Tumwater Falls

While in the northwest, we had a trip to Olympia WA, and true to form, we had to see something. So we saw Tumwater Falls. It's a lovely little spot, and the falls were beautiful. It was a reminder of how many things I haven't seen in the area, since I don't remember ever going there before.

Tumwater Falls, located on the Deschutes River, is the site of the first American settlement north of the Columbia River (settled in 1845). A sawmill, and gristmill was built on the site, which was named New Market.

In 1896 Olympic Brewing company was started there, basing their beer on the artisan water located at the site.

The brewery still remains on the banks.
