Totally random rose picture - but isn't it pretty? |
Yesterday, we were pleased to have a family friend in for the day. Living here, we don't know many people, so we get maybe a little overly excited for guests, even if they're just a guest for the day. I cooked dinner, and we made pies, which as always, makes me wonder why we don't cook pie more. A question quickly answered by the fact that if we did, all we would eat is pie. This could be a healthy diet - you know, savory pies, sweet pies, vegetable pies.. but I think it may be slightly high in the sugar, and fat quotient. Though both pies I made were sugar free, and still tasted great.
I also made baked salmon, new potatoes, corn on the cob, green beans, zucchini bread, chicken pot pie, homemade ice cream, and pasta. This may have been overkill, but we ate well. My great Grandma loved to cook, and when she had guests, would cook all of her food. This could potentially be some sort of recessive gene, that has surfaced in me. Whenever someone is coming over, I immediately worry that A- They will hate what I cooked. and B- 17 additional people will come over with them, and somehow we will run out of food. That has never happened, but I worked at a restaurant. I know busloads of people can randomly show up. And I will BE PREPARED.
Love that picture of that rose. LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteThe cooking gene skips a generation in the women in my family. I'm always afraid of not having enough food to go around. I would rather have too much than too little any day.
