Signs of Spring

There are signs of spring all around right now. Of course, there's still a slight chance of snow before May 15th or so. After May 16th the chances decrease significantly. In the meantime though, I am enjoying the pretty spring trees.

Photo Fun

For Christmas I received a note entitling me to a new SLR camera so I could start to study how photography really works. I have outgrown my faithful P80, and was ready for the next step.

Today, my brand new Nikon D5100 arrived in the mail. Of course we almost immediately had to leave for lesson night, but I took it with me and had some fun taking random photos. Tomorrow the book comes that I ordered, and I can really get busy studying all the cool things I can do.

A lot of these were really low light, as I wanted to test that. And yes, we have wild turkeys in yards roaming the suburbs. It's rather charming, though slightly weird.

Silver Frost

Sorry for my absence amongst the generalities of life, my computer has been in for a face lift, debugging, defragging, and maybe defrosting.

The other morning we were treated to a lovely display of frost. So beautiful. So much better than snow.

Christmas Sunset

"May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope;
The spirit of Christmas which is peace;
The heart of Christmas which is love."
~Ada V. Hendricks

"Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time."  ~Laura Ingalls Wilder

"Wouldn't life be worth the living
Wouldn't dreams be coming true
If we kept the Christmas spirit
All the whole year through?"
~Author Unknown

October Evening

It was a beautiful fall day here. After raking leaves this afternoon, we rewarded ourselves with a trip to the tennis courts. We're getting better, the other people playing didn't laugh at us - much.
We were rewarded with a gorgeous sunset over the courts.

Clearly the cats think we're crazy. What's new?

Falling Leaves

This fall is slipping by fast, today the wind started up, and the leaves started making their way to the ground in earnest. Soon it will be a barren landscape of browns, grays and whites. We are determined though to make the most of every second. Today we started playing tennis. Not that any of us know how to play Tennis, but hey, it's fun right? In reality I was better at using the racquet to make the ball go farther for Ramses..

Throwing the ball farther is a good thing - he is FAST!
