Serendipitous Knitting and Scenery

This past vacation to Seattle I spent an insane amount of time hanging out with the dogs, and the kids, in scenic areas. The first day, I forgot my knitting bag in the hotel room, so I made a quick stop at a LYS in which I purchased 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden, and a size 8 circ Addi needle. A longer perusal of Ravelry on my Droid (I love smartphones!), I found a pattern that looked intriguingly hard, but used all the skills I'd been working on, and making great strides in. This has been a challenge. It took me an insanely long time to memorize the pattern, but all through the trip I slogged away.

I've been meaning to photograph it, but it's been living in the car while I work on a considerably larger project in the house. Finally today, I just slung it over the steering wheel and took a picture. I still have a little ways to go, but I love it!

I am assuming like all lace patterns when I block it, it'll open.
I'm just so pleased that I'm purling and doing a moderately complex
(ok, minorly complex - hush) pattern.

In another serendipitous event, the other night I was driving home
took a different route, and passed this lake at just this perfect moment.

Beautiful.

Noro Nirvana

Today was yet another busy day in the world. Kevin was meeting with his old coworkers (there's a story there, you are right), and I took the opportunity of being waaaay across town to go to a new yarn shop.

I went to Knit'n From The Heart, a little store that for some reason I have driven by multiple times while never stopping. I have no idea why this has happened, but it will never ever happen again. You know why? Cause I went inside and found.....

I snagged a bad picture - this is just one section of Noro - there were MORE!!!!

Noro Heaven!! An entire section of their store devoted to Noro. LOVE times a zillion thankyouverymuch! And a ton, a literal ton of Taiyo. And it was on sale! And it was all over the place, and I stayed there for an hour looking at their Noro samples, Noro books, and fondling yarn. It was darn lucky that I happen to be broke right now, or else I'd still be recovering from my Noro purchases. As it was, there was just a minor purchase, but I was informed of a frequent buyer program. Yes, please!

I was especially happy because I have had a big problem finding Taiyo locally lately. This means I now have a new source besides online. The other Noros are just icing on the cake but oh, it is such a prettily decorated cake!

Frankly, I just want to move over there, and go work at this store now. I doubt they're hiring, but I may beg my way into a volunteer position, will work for Noro yarn? It could work... I'm sure it's not the first time it's been suggested.

Now that the TDF is over, I took the opportunity to finish a project bag I'd planned out in early June. I wove this out of Noro Vintage. Have I mentioned my Noro obsession? Noro is my guilty pleasure. The warp is cotton blue warp.

This bag is um, unique. I was really on a steep learning curve here, but it's cute, and it's finished! A woven bag!


The perfect home for Rosebud, the little spindle, and my current on the needles Noro scarf.. I'll put in a magnet closure tomorrow, and maybe even a button (I love buttons) but hey it's off the loom. Which is a good thing cause the loom is now residing in the craft tote, waiting to go with us on vacation. Yes, the loom is going. It's surrounded by fiber and yarn, quite happy in there.

Nothing else is actually packed yet. Oh well.
