One Hat Two Hat Red Hat Blue Hat

No hat for me! Yes, here are the hats breaking tradition, and being sent tomorrow to Seattle to live with relatives. But they're staying together in their quest to warm heads.

Red Hat - Godric's Hollow hat out of Malabrigo. 

 Blue hat -
Minnesota Hat from Ravelry out of Malabrigo. It has a double brim, nice and warm for ears. Kind of not necessary in Seattle but it's still cute.

Bonding Time

When we in Astoria Oregon last summer, we bought 2 beautiful paintings on fabric of adorable little beach houses from a woman who was really attached to them, and asked us where they were going to live, and said with dismay 'you're buying those? I loved those 2..' I think I am the same way about handspun goods. I bond to each one individually.

 This is the note that I just sent my sister on Facebook. I had spun a spectacular blue and yarn, plied it, cabled it, and mom had knit it into my favorite hat pattern with the thought of sending her this little gem..

Who could send this little adorable hat into the world??

 

Thank you for the hat that mom just finished for you and I just stole! We'll be making you another one shortly! She'll probably be done with it by the end of the week. You wouldn't have liked the gray and blue coloration anyway, you need more of a red and brown, or cream hat don't you think?

 We have lots of yarn, more hats are always forthcoming here.

Thriller Night!

In October I received yarn for The Painted Tiger fiber club, and I fell in love with. I ordered a bit more, and have been knitting it up. My mom took over some and made this incredibly cute Godric's Hollow hat. It's still damp from blocking in this picture but is warm, and so cute! We made it a bit bigger than the original pattern called for, and on an adult head the poofiness is just right! I still have one fingerless mitt to do, but I decided since it's Michael Jackson yarn, one glove would suffice for pictures. Besides, I had a model here today!

Fire And Ice

Once thing I love about spinning is being able to switch from project to project randomly and just as I'd like to. An average skein of yarn, takes me around 3 hours start to finish, so I can get one done in an evening, or at least a few a week. And that lets me switch from color to color to color all the time.

Here are the 2 I finished this week. Both Club fibers from The Painted Tiger, but one is all fire and one is ice. I can't decide which one I like better...

I love this hat!

Last night, I looked around and realized that everyone had handknits on as well. My mom was sporting a 100% alpaca hat she'd crocheted, along with the drop stitch scarf I'd done the other week, and fingerless mitts. Kevin had on a handknit hat out of wool. Cory had on a handknit hat out of llama, and Devin one out of Merino. I had on fingerless mitts, and another drop stitch scarf. It was fun to see them all in use, though personally I'd be fine with them all being stored while we walked on a warm sandy beach too..

Rangers win, but Mariners colors prevail

Note to self: Need to find roving this color.

Mom finished another hat, I think it's lovely, so does the recipient.

And I finished the Mariners mitts for my nephew. The other one wants convertible mittens. That will take research.
